The
United
States Commission on International Religious Freedom has a new
Internet site for people in the U.S. government's efforts to end
religious persecution abroad and promote international religious
freedom. It features an archive of commission press releases; frequently
asked questions; the State Department's first country-by-country
Report on International Religious Freedom; names and biographies
of the commissioners; the text of the 1998 International Religious
Freedom Act and its 1999 amendments; texts of the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights; the 1998 State Department Human Rights report;
and links to other sites of interest. ...The commission was created
by the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 to give independent
recommendations to the executive branch and the Congress.
