Wisconsin’s
partial-birth abortion ban has been upheld by a
federal
judge.

Planned
Parenthood of Wisconsin and several abortionists opposed the law, saying
it is vague and could be construed to outlaw other kinds of abortion procedures,
the Associated Press said. U.S. District Judge John Shabaz ruled that the
law is not vague and that the state should be allowed to regulate the procedure.
"The partial-birth abortion is never
medically
necessary to preserve the life of the woman," he said.
The
law forbids abortions where the doctor "partially vaginally delivers a
living child, causes the death of the partially delivered child with the
intent to kill the child, and then completes delivery." It calls for a
life sentence for a doctor convicted of performing the procedure.
